The conservative wish list

If you go back decades — I’m talking the 1980s and Ronald Reagan, you will start to see the construct of the modern day conservative wish list.

Sure, cutting taxes and reducing government have also been at the top of the list, but specific things like abolishing the Department of Education and making English the official language of the United States started getting added to it.

Year after year, election after election were given excuses why it could not happen. I mean in the times when Republicans controlled all the of the major institutions: the White House, the House and the Senate. There was always some reason why it just could not get over the finish line.

But just elect more of us — give us more time, more money and trust us, next time we will get to it.

It just never did. Ever.

Now it’s different.

The standout out line in President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress was “but all we really needed was a new President.”

He was right.

The excuses are done.
