The Left’s Stephen Colbert Meltdown Is About More Than Comedy

You’d think Stephen Colbert had cured cancer.

The reaction to CBS ending The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been extraordinary: media figures mourning, politicians outraged, commentators warning of threats to democracy, and the usual crowd acting as though an American institution has been destroyed.

And then Trump makes a joke, about the guy who makes jokes about him everyday, and MORE outrage.

Give me a break.

For years, conservatives watched their own voices removed from platforms, sidelined from networks, demonetized, or outright canceled — and the same people now demanding outrage were nowhere to be found.

Where was the national grieving period when conservatives get silenced, seemingly weekly?

Where were the think pieces about free speech? The emotional monologues? The warnings about political suppression?

Silence.

What’s remarkable about the reaction isn’t Colbert leaving television — it’s the double standard.

Because here’s another inconvenient fact:
