Thanks Joe Biden

Months after taking office in 2020 Joe Biden made a historic decision to fire every member of the service academies. At the time, I was in the final months of my tenure as a member of the Board of Visitors to the US Naval Academy.

Unlike other appointments the President makes, the ones to the service academies are in statute passed by Congress and signed into law by the president. Like other members of the service academies, I was sworn into office for a term of service.

These appointmemts are dfferent from presidential commissions that serve at the plreasue or the president. I had previsouly been appointed by President Trump to serve as a Commissioner on the White House Fellows program. When the Biden administration asked for my resignation after President Biden took office, I tendered it. A president has a right to appoint people he wants to serve on presidential commissions and boards. This was different - and historic.
